Parma coach Roberto D’Aversa expects 'a complicated game' against a Genoa that ‘have an average return equivalent to the Europa League’ since Davide Nicola took over.

The Gialloblu resumed with a 1-1 game against Torino and D’Aversa was pleased to see how his players recovered from the physical match on Saturday.

“Ailments aside, the team have responded well after the match against Torino,” he told the club’s official website. “It was a hard-fought match.

The Gialloblu resumed with a 1-1 game against Torino and D’Aversa was pleased to see how his players recovered from the physical match on Saturday.

“Ailments aside, the team have responded well after the match against Torino,” he told the club’s official website. “It was a hard-fought match.

“But I still prefer having a look tomorrow [Tuesday] and see what elements I can count on.”

Parma currently sit ninth in Serie A and are three points behind Milan at seventh, chasing a place in the Europa League next season.

But D’Aversa has pointed at tonight’s opponents and how the Rossoblu have developed under coach Nicola. Genoa have only lost one in six and beat Milan 2-1 in their last match before the break.

“Genoa, since Davide Nicola took over, have an average return equivalent to the Europa League,” D’Aversa added. “They were on a great run before the break.

“It will be a very complicated game for us, the lads know the importance of this challenge. We can’t take anything for granted. However, our objectives are identical, to win points for salvation.”

The 44-year-old has stressed the importance of having five substitutions available and claimed he has multiple players who can make an impact coming off the bench.

“They’re important because the conditions aren’t optimal for the players. The five changes certainly help the team.

“We have players who can make a difference, like Gervinho, Gianluca Caprari, Yann Karamoh, Mattia Sprocati and Luca Silgardi.”
