“As I told Gervinho at the final whistle, it would not have gone well for him if we’d drawn that game… I think some of his teammates might’ve joined in too!” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“He usually has such a strong first touch and is a very generous teammate, so he said that he didn’t see the other options in that moment and I take him at his word.
“We faced sides like Inter and Napoli at home, so had tough fixtures, but there was a different atmosphere this evening, the crowd was right behind us and we picked up three fundamental points.
“In the second half, we got a bit stretched out under the Genoa pressure and had a period of difficulty. We put on four strikers, as I needed someone like Jonathan Biabiany who had pace to take on Daniel Bessa, and once we took the lead, moved to five in defence to cover the gaps.”
