The Ducali opened their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Udinese, but fumbled their 2-0 lead following a strong start.

“It won’t be an easy game against SPAL, as they had very good possession statistics and beat Bologna on their own turf last week,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“They like to play the ball, but at the same time allow very little to the opposition. We’ve got to face them with the same humility we showed against Udinese in the first half and keep that attitude going throughout the season.”

Curiously, SPAL beat Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara last week and are there again today, as the Stadio Mazza is undergoing restructuring work.

“Their arena in Ferrara is fiery and inevitably on neutral turf there won’t be quite the same push from the crowd, but they showed last week that they enjoy the Dall’Ara too.

“SPAL have a very smart Coach in Leonardo Semplici and players who can make the difference, such as Jasmin Kurtic and Mirko Antenucci.

“Biabiany has a muscular problem and won’t be available. If I only had to choose a replacement based on tactics, it’d be Gervinho, but we already have so many injuries to our wingers and can’t afford to risk more.

“At this moment, I don’t think Gervinho has 90 minutes in his legs. I don’t like to change system either, so we’ll find a player to cover that role.”

Parma squad for SPAL: Bagheria, Frattali, Sepe; Bruno Alves, Dimarco, Gagliolo, Gazzola, Gobbi, Iacoponi, Sierralta; Barillà, Deiola, Grassi, Rigoni, Stulac; Ceravolo, Da Cruz, Di Gaudio, Gervinho, Inglese
