Torino's Gianluca Petrachi says offers for Matteo Darmian must start at €20m, and is hopeful for Mirko Valdifiori.

The Granata sporting director was interviewed by Sky Sports, and the topic quickly turned to his team's most prized transfer assets, the talented fullbacks Darmian and Bruno Peres.

“I'll reiterate what the President said, we've had no concrete offers yet,” said Petrachi.

“We certainly have no need to sell, since we're not in the red.

“And Darmian is a point of reference for the Italian national team. We won't even listen to offers below €20m.

“Braga's Eder? We're following him, he's a striker born in 1987 who could be of use for us.

“It doesn't help that he scored against the Azzurri though!”

The director then discussed Mirko Valdifiori, who seemed inches away from signing with Napoli but is now reportedly holding back.

“We contacted Valdifiori first,” he said. “Then Napoli signed [new Coach Maurizio] Sarri and they joined the race.

“We prepared a substantial offer for him as well as for Empoli, showing that we were very interested.

“And we had a verbal agreement with the player and the agent.

“Judging by his words he seemed convinced that he wanted to come to Turin, but we cannot exclude anything.

“We certainly can't compete against Napoli from an economic point of view.”

Finally, Petrachi was able to discuss his team's ambitions in the world of modern football.

“Football is something else now compared to the eighties.

“Our revenue is one fifth of Juve's. To sign great champions you need to offer very high salaries, and if one of them stutters for half the season everything falls apart.

“Many clubs are full of debts because they spend more than they earn.

“We're growing one step at a time, we're recovering the Granata pride, which is something you can't understand from the outside.

“It takes courage, you have to go against the grain.”
