Napoli are reportedly considering both Spal’s Manuel Lazzari and Matteo Darmian of Manchester United for right-back.

The Partenopei’s owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis, confirmed today that they will reinforce Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in January.

According to Il Mattino, the area most likely to be strengthened is full-back, and there are two names at the top of the shortlist.

The first is Darmian, who has struggled for playing time at Manchester United and was linked with a return to Italy in the summer.

Juventus agreed a deal with the player but wouldn’t meet United’s asking price, while Napoli themselves were also interested.

There is likely to be stiff competition for the Italian international, so the alternative is Spal’s Lazzari.

The 24-year-old won his first Azzurri cap against Portugal earlier this year, and is valued at around €20m.
