Matteo Darmian predicts a highly 'entertaining and uncertain' Serie A tournament, while discussing English football: 'It doesn't give you a second to breathe'.

The 25-year-old moved to Manchester United last summer as his former club Torino soared, sitting now at an impressive third place in the standings.

“The strength of the great clubs will eventually prevail [for the Scudetto],” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “But I'm certain it's going to be the most entertaining and uncertain Italian championship of the last few years.

“I support Torino. In those four seasons my skin became Granata.

“The Premier League? [Manchester] City are the team that impressed me the most.

“We still haven't faced them, but I followed several of their matches and they have enormous potential.

“English football has a superior pace compared to Italy. The game is played with higher intensity. You never have a moment to breathe.

“From a tactical point of view, everybody goes with a four-man defence and five men in the midfield. The 4-2-3-1 is the most popular formation.”

Darmian has already won his first small accolade with the Red Devils, being nominated Player of the Month in August by the fans.

“As they say, I'm off to a good start! Breaking the ice against Tottenham in my debut made things easier for me.

“There isn't much of a life outside of the pitch because here we never stop, what with the Premier League, Champions League and Cups.

“I live close to Carrington, the training base, so I don't have to get stuck in traffic.

“I hang around with the Spanish group, [David] De Gea, [Juan] Mata, [Ander] Herrera, but I also bonded with [Daley] Blind.

“I had a working knowledge of the English language, but I'm getting better thanks to a tutor and by practising with my teammates.”
