Matteo Darmian highlighted the enthusiasm and energy of Romelu Lukaku following his return to Inter and brushed off market rumours surrounding the club.
The 29-year-old Lukaku returned to the Nerazzurri last month on an €8m dry loan deal with €4m in add-ons attached. The Belgian is looking to re-find his form after an incredibly difficult season with Chelsea, where he failed to live up to his €115m price tag.
Speaking to Sport Mediaset, Darmian discussed Lukaku’s return to Inter and his emotional state upon arrival.
“He is fired up and determined, he has so much desire to do well. We found him as we left him, in fact he’s even more determination.”
The Italian wing back touched on the team’s goals for the 2022-23 season.
“When you play for Inter, the goals are always important. We will give fight until the end, like what happened last year.”
Finally, Darmian tried to shut out the noise regarding the transfer market rumours swirling around Inter.
“We focus on the pitch, we try not to listen to what happens off it.”
Lukaku certainly announced his Inter return, scoring two minutes into his season debut against Lecce on the weekend. Last season with Chelsea, the Belgian only managed to net eight goals in 26 Premier League appearances, numbers he’ll obviously be hoping to improve upon this campaign.
