Matteo Darmian insists the penalty kick awarded to Inter against Napoli was fair and explains how Manchester United helped his growth.

“We knew it would be a tough game, every detail makes the difference,” Darmian told Sky Sport.

“I saw a ball halfway, I tried to take it and Ospina touched me. It was a fair penalty.

“I always try to be ready. Since I arrived I made myself available with desire and determination and I think you are seeing the result of so much work.”

Darmian spent four seasons at Manchester United.

“It’s an important club that made me grow as a person. It gives you responsibility as a footballer. Both Inter and Manchester United are big clubs, every time you wear their shirt you have a big responsibility.

“I knew I would have joined a big club with lot of competition, I always try to be ready and give everything.”
