Prior to signing his contract extension with Juventus, Brazilian defender Danilo had a list of admirers which included Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish outlet Relevo claims Danilo snubbed a return to Manchester in favour of continuing with Juve, regardless of what potential sanctions may lay ahead for the Bianconeri.

Danilo is familiar with the city of Manchester from his time under Pep Guardiola at City before his switch to the Allianz Stadium as part of an exchange deal for Joao Cancelo in 2019.

Danilo’s previous contract at the Allianz Stadium expired in 2024 but offers from Champions League heavyweights in Spain and Germany were also on the table, according to the report. Nevertheless, the 31-year-old preferred to remain with the Old Lady.

Relevo reports that the prospect of potentially playing without European football next season was never an issue.

Staying in Turin was the top priority for Danilo, who considers the city to offer the perfect balance between life and football.

Juve’s unsung leader cites Gianluigi Buffon as his idol and apparently never thought of anything else other than renewing his contract.  Danilo’s new deal runs until the summer of 2025.
