Danilo admits Juventus are not among the favourites to win the Champions League but expects a lot from Massimiliano Allegri’s return to the club.

The Brazilian defender gave an interview to YouTube channel Fui Clear discussing the club’s chances to win Europe’s elite competition and Massimiliano Allegri’s return to the club.

This is the first season that Danilo plays under the Italian tactician who left Juventus in the summer of 2019, just a few months before Danilo’s arrival in Turin.

“Allegri has made history at this club, he has victory in his DNA,” Danilo said.

“We are not among the favourites to win the Champions League, but I believe in hard work and we are all motivated to face the season in a competitive way.”

The last time Juventus won the Champions League was in 1996. They’ve lost five Finals since the most recent ones in 2015 against Barcelona and in 2017 against Real Madrid.

“An important step for Giorgio Chiellini’s renewal, he embodies the spirit of Juventus,” the defender continued.

Danilo joined Juventus from Manchester City in a swap deal with Joao Cancelo and believes his former club is among the favourites to win the Champions League with Liverpool and Manchester City.

“On paper, they are one step ahead of us,” Danilo admitted. “However, I’ve been at Juventus for just two years and I identify myself in the club’s values. It’s great to be here.”

Danilo, 30, has three years left in his contract with Juventus, will he become a coach at the end of his career?

“I won’t be a director, if I remain in football, it would be to work on the pitch,” the defender claimed.

“I don’t know if I will continue in football, I like sports psychology, I am sure mental work can make the difference, it’s something I am interested in.

“I am not saying I won’t be a coach. Sometimes, when I am alone in my room, I think about tactics, imagining the squad that we’ll face the following day, let’s see what happens.”

  1. Unfortunately the Serie A teams are a long way behind – not just Juventus. The difference in revenues between the PL and Serie A is vast. Perhaps Inter have the best chance this season in the CL – Inzaghi doesn’t have to prove anything in the CL (unlike the huge stumbling block it was for Conte) Lazio did OK in the CL – until they met Bayern. But Inter have a better squad than Lazio so should, at least, do better.

  2. PSG ? Local league PL is fine but Lig one is a local league don’t compare Seria A with lig one abeg
