Juventus captain Danilo suffered an ankle injury during a 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona on Saturday and is expected to remain out of action for 10 to 15 days.

The Brazilian defender had suffered an injury at the Stadio Bentegodi yesterday and underwent medical examinations in Turin on Sunday morning.

“Following the injury sustained against Hellas Verona on Saturday, February 17, Danilo underwent medical tests at J|Medical on Sunday morning,” Juventus said in an official statement.

“The tests ruled out ligament damage and any fractures to his left ankle, and the player has begun the rehabilitation process. He will continue to be evaluated day by day.”

Football Italia understands the Brazilian defender will remain out of action for 10 to 15 days. This means he will surely miss the next home game against Frosinone on February 25 and will be assessed for an away clash at the Stadio Maradona against Napoli on March 3.

Danilo was named Juventus’ captain following Leonardo Bonucci’s exit last summer.

A former Real Madrid and Manchester City defender, Danilo has one goal and three assists in 20 appearances across all competitions this season. His contract at the Allianz Stadium runs out in June 2025.

Danilo joined Juventus from Manchester City in a player-plus-cash swap deal involving Joao Cancelo in the summer of 2019 and has played 183 games with the Bianconeri, scoring nine goals.
