After having left Juventus for Paris Saint-Germain, the right-back ended his 17-year-long stint in Europe but claims he would still be able to contribute at the top level in Italy.

“I would be a star in today’s Milan,” he told the Spanish broadcast Hoy No Se Sale. “Age is just a number and I still want to fight when playing football.

“Before, I ran 12 kilometres per game, but the smart thing is to run eight well.

“But I’m sure of one thing: I don’t want to be ashamed of being on the pitch. When I’m no longer able, I will retire."
