Sampdoria have reportedly rejected Milan’s opening bid for Mikkel Damsgaard and the 20-year-old seems destined to stay at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris until 2022.

Damsgaard scored two goals at UEFA Euro 2020, including a free-kick opener in the semi-final against England.

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero had claimed the 20-year-old is not for sale and the club’s sporting director Carlo Osti has confirmed the Blucerchiati don’t want to sell the Denmark international.

“Everybody saw his qualities at the Euros and we are happy for that,” Osti told Rai Sport.

“However, as the President said, he is not for sale, even though everything has a price. I think he can further improve by staying at Sampdoria for one more season, that’s what we want to do.”

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Barcelona and Tottenham are interested in the 20-year-old, having scouted him during Denmark’s game at the Euros.

The pink paper adds Sampdoria have rejected an opening bid from Milan.

The Rossoneri had offered €20m plus Andrea Conti, who has returned to the club after a six-month loan at Parma.

Sampdoria rejected the offer as they are only open to selling their starlet for a plain cash offer.

Damsgaard had joined Sampdoria from Nordsjaelland in a €6.5m deal in 2020 and scored two goals in 35 appearances in his first season in Serie A.
