Milan are searching for Hakan Calhanoglu’s replacement at San Siro and have reportedly targeted Atalanta forward Josip Ilicic and Sampdoria attacking midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard.

Inter completed a move for Calhanoglu on a free transfer when the Turkey international’s deal with the Rossoneri expired last month, and Milan are working to find his replacement.

The Diavolo has been linked with Ilicic in recent months, as the 33-year-old Slovenia international seems set to leave Atalanta this summer.

Ilicic’s contract with La Dea expires in June 2022 and there’s an option for a further year in his deal at the Gewiss Stadium.

But Atalanta are reportedly willing to listen to offers, with Milan considering him a low-cost alternative on the transfer market, due to his age and current contract status with the Orobici.

On the other hand, Tuttosport claims Milan have targeted Denmark international Damsgaard, who has impressed since joining Sampdoria from Nordsjaelland in September 2020.

The 20-year-old has starred for Denmark at the Euros and is currently preparing for the quarter-final against Czech Republic on Saturday.

Samp picked up Damsgaard for a reported €6.75m last summer, but the youngster has attracted interest from across the European leagues and the Blucerchiati warned the winger is ‘not for sale’.

President Massimo Ferrero said the player is now worth between €30m and €50m, but is not looking to sell the starlet this summer.

Damsgaard, who has scored three goals in six appearances with Denmark, has a contract with Sampdoria until June 2024.
