Prolific former agent and Serie A journeyman Oscar Damiani insists that Napoli coach Antonio Conte is the right person to help Victor Osimhen in the event that the Nigerian’s departure from the Partenopei does not materialise this summer.

Damiani, who previously represented the likes of Alessandro Costacurta, Lilian Thuram and Andriy Shevchenko, admits that selling Osimhen is a difficult task for Napoli, but suggests that the time is ticking if they want to sell him in this window.

However, if Osimhen does end up staying on at the Stadio Maradona for the 2024-25 campaign, Damiani believes that Conte is the perfect coach to get the best out of him.

What happens if Osimhen does not leave Napoli?

“The negotiation between Osimhen, Napoli and PSG is a difficult one that requires a significant amount of money, even for PSG, who have an ownership that allows certain investments to be made,” he said, reported via TMW.

TMW add that the situation surrounding Napoli, PSG and Osimhen should be resolved either way within the next 10 days, but that doesn’t necessarily guarantee an agreement between the two parties.

“If he stays at Napoli, Conte will know how to give him the right sort of motivation,” Damiani continued. “Napoli is a great club and will fight with the greatest ambition.”

Damiani believes that Conte still has several considerations to make over his squad before the 2024-25 season kicks off, both in terms of new arrivals and the players he already has at his disposal.

“Conte will have to evaluate some of the players at the retreat in Castel di Sangro, but at the moment, the team is full of quality and can fight with the others at the top.”
