Torino chief Urbano Cairo has admitted that Danilo D’Ambrosio will leave the club after turning down the offer of a new contract.

The full-back is only contracted until June 2014 and he looks like he will be leaving on a Bosman free transfer.

“The soap opera with his agent tired us out,” Cairo told Tuttosport. “Everything was calm and it looked like we were heading for a simple one-year renewal.

“Then things went cold and, in March, the player told me that he didn’t want to renew. He changed his mind in October and we agreed terms.

“We shook hands with the promise that we would speak again. When we did that, the player then refused the extension as he had an offer from a more important team.

“Nobody can make offers for D’Ambrosio now though, the transfer window is closed…

“All of this is very out of place. I’m bitter, not just because I’m losing a player, but for the situation in general.”

The player has been linked with Roma, Fiorentina and Inter.
