Milan target Diogo Dalot has returned to training with Manchester United after ‘one of the most beautiful summers in a long time’ and spoke about his ‘perfect’ experience at the Rossoneri last term.

The Rossoneri are reportedly in negotiations with the Red Devils over a return for the Portuguese full-back, who spent the 2020-21 season on loan at San Siro.

Milan and Manchester United are yet to reach an agreement over a return for the youngster, who is back at Old Trafford to start preparing for the new season.

“[I want to] keep developing,” Dalot told United’s official website. “When I had a season like last season, things obviously start to get more demanding as well.

“I want to keep playing, I want to keep giving everything I have and improve. I know last season was fantastic but I can do even more.”

Dalot played 33 games with Milan and revealed he enjoyed his time at Milanello.

“It was perfect. The goal for last season was to get minutes again, get my legs going. Be fit. And I had it.

“I think I was one of the only players in the squad that was available for all the games and that was a very good point as well, besides of course the minutes and games I played, which were a lot.

“Like I said, it was perfect. I met very good people at the club, very good people in the city and it was fantastic.

“Every season you learn a little bit more. Not just about yourself but about life, about football and about other experiences too.

“The chance to play in another fantastic League brought me some very good stuff, not just for football but for my life as well. Experience-wise it was fantastic and in the end I’m very happy with what I did last season.”

Dalot replaced Joao Cancelo in the Portugal squad for the European Championship and said he had a great summer with the Selecao and the Under-21 team that reached the Final of the U21 Euros.

“It was one of the most beautiful summers that I’ve had in a long time,” he continued. “Obviously with the Under-21s, we reached the Final.

“The tournament was fantastic. We deserved to win but in the end we couldn’t.”

The 22-year-old played twice at EURO 2020 too, against France in the group stage and Belgium in the round of 16.
