Lazio’s team doctor assures Federico Marchetti has not broken a cheekbone, but suffered “cuts and bruises”.

The goalkeeper had to be substituted in yesterday’s win over Frosinone, with fears he may have broken a bone.

“Marchetti had a cut and bruised cheekbone, which was sutured immediately with five stitches,” Roberto Bianchini told Lazio Style Radio.

“However, further examinations were needed, which fortunately showed no fracture. He is therefore only cut and bruised.”

Bianchini also gave an update on the condition of several other injured players.

“Dusan Basta has suffered a dislocated shoulder, which saw him taken off the pitch. Once he was taken off a brace was applied which he will wear for 15 or 20 days.

“We’ll monitor him for the next few days, then try to reduce his recovery time.

“For [Filip] Djordjevic he just has bruising. [Senad] Lulic was just cramped up due to fatigue.”
