Como striker Patrick Cutrone is impressed by Cesc Fabregas and insists his heart is ‘also at Milan’ where he got to play with his ‘idol’ Gonzalo Higuain.
The Italian striker returned to Italy in the summer, joining the Serie B side from Wolverhampton.
He had spent the previous season on loan at Empoli, managing three goals in 28 appearances.
He has netted two goals in four Serie B games with Como this term and is sharing the dressing room with Spain World Cup winner Cesc Fabregas.
Is he impressed by his impact at the club?
“A lot. Cesc is not only a great champion but a person who knows how to help and gives advice, especially to young players,” Cutrone told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The product of Milan academy made his senior debut with the Rossoneri in 2016 under Vincenzo Montella.
He spent three years at his childhood club before joining Wolves for €18m plus add-ons in 2019.
He played with Gonzalo Higuain for six months during his stay at the Stadio Meazza.
“I’ve played with many great strikers, but I was in love with Higuain. A phenomenal footballer and a great person. He was my idol even before playing with him,” he said.
Cutrone has scored 40 goals in 192 games as a professional footballer; which one is his favourite?
“I have two. One at San Siro against Rijeka in Europa League and one in my Serie A debut as a starter against Crotone.”
The 24-year-old is still a Milan fan, so he hopes the Rossoneri will retain the Scudetto this season: “I do, my heart is also there,” he admitted.
Still only 24? If he gets his act together and starts banging in the goals, he certainly could be another option upfront for the National team.
