The Curva Nord section of Inter’s supporters have thanked the club for a ‘season to remember’ in a statement on social media on Sunday afternoon following the team’s 3-2 victory over Atalanta on Sunday evening.
After picking up three points at the hands of Gian Piero Gasperini’s side at San Siro, Inter have mathematically guaranteed their place in the Serie A top four, just four days after beating Fiorentina to the Coppa Italia title on Wednesday.
The Nerazzurri also have a Champions League final against Manchester City to look forward to, which the ultras have insisted will be a “party, regardless of the result.”
However, it had not always been smooth sailing over the course of 2022-23, with many believing that Simone Inzagi would be on his way out after a series of unfortunate results in the earlier stages of the season.
Reflecting on an eventful year, the Curva Nord wrote on Instagram: “A season to remember, a final to celebrate … Thank you Inter. Ups and downs, difficult moments and moments of euphoria, in a season as protagonists, it’s been a great season for Inter!
“After the slow start in the league before the break for the World Cup and the confrontations we had with the club, the redefinition of the objectives for the season was clear, yet still ambitious.
“Supercoppa, Coppa Italia, Champions League qualification and reaching as far as possible in Europe, these were the new objectives promised at the beginning of the year.
“After the result against Atalanta we can only say thank you to an exceptional club and group of players which, as well as hitting all the targets, gave us the most unexpected gift of all; Taking us to Istanbul for what will be a party, regardless of the final result.”
The ultras went on to instruct its members to behave themselves while in Turkey for the final in June and reminded supporters to “give the boys all the support they deserve.”
