Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado concedes Juventus didn’t play their best football against Chelsea and admits the Bianconeri are working not to make Ronaldo’s absence felt: ‘The club is the most important thing.’

The Colombian winger is one of Juventus’ key assets, having played six of the Bianconeri’s eight games of the season so far.

On Wednesday, Cuadrado faced his former club Chelsea in a Champions League group stage game that saw the Bianconeri emerge as winners.

Juventus played a defensive game, but managed a 1-0 win against the Champions of Europe.

“We have the satisfaction of having played as a team, of having fought for a result that we wanted at all costs,” Cuadrado told La Repubblica as quoted by Calciomercato.com.

“It’s our DNA and against the big clubs it comes out. It gives us new awareness, but we have to keep our feet on the ground and keep working.

“We may not have played the best football, but, I repeat, we played as a team. And the result is what matters.

“Football is based on episodes and surprises, think about the defeats of Real Madrid and Barcelona,” the 33-year-old continued.

“The truth is that every team has its own value and everybody faces us as if it were a final: we must do it too and always have the same desire.”

Allegri is the anti-Guardiola, but both approaches defuse Chelsea

The Bianconeri have a perfect Champions League record so far, with two wins from two games. However, they have the same amount of victories in six Serie A matches this season.

They visit Torino in the Derby Della Mole on Sunday.

“They [Torino] are more solid than in the past,” said Cuadrado.

“It will be a special match, for us and for the fans. A battle. But right now, any match would have been important.”

Juventus saw Cristiano Ronaldo leave during the last week of the summer transfer window.

The Portuguese ace returned to Manchester United after scoring 101 goals in 134 games with the Bianconeri.

“We know his worth and we knew what he represented for us,” said Cuadrado.

“However, we are working not to make his absence felt.”

3 thought on “Cuadrado: ‘Juventus more important than Ronaldo, ugly win against Chelsea’”
  1. 1000% more important than the portuguese poseur, we were finessed, asnd he left late out of spite. glad i don`t have to defend one of my players against asssault charges all the time. his time will not be remembered kindly. interesting to see if he gets two trophies with unitd this season to show he `wants to win again` while Juventus are doing better in the champion`s league for years since he left.

  2. I would have been surprised if Cuadrado actually said the defeat of Chelsea was an ‘ugly win’
