The Technical Scientific Committee has rejected the proposal of increasing the stadium capacity to 100 per cent when Italy play Switzerland at the Olimpico this month.

The Azzurri were hoping to sell out the stadium ahead of the big game in the World Cup Qualifiers on November 12.

But ANSA reports their sources from the Government has revealed the CTS rejected the request and will only allow a partial increase from 60 per cent to 75 per cent.

The ATP Finals in Turin is scheduled for November 14 and will also be able to open the stands at 75 per cent capacity.

The negative response regarding the match at the Olimpico is partly due to the growth of COVID-19 infections, with Lazio being one of the most exposed regions in Italy.

  1. What’s the difference??? 75 to 100%??? Covid has represented an “opportunity” for for govt agencies to exert and wield their power. This isn’t science – it’s a power struggle
