“The player’s camp presented us with a bid of €2.5m,” Cruzeiro President Idair Machado told O Tempo.

“The offer came from an Italian team, although I can’t name them.”

Agent Stephanie Figer added to FCInterNews.it: “We’ve extended his contract with Cruzeiro until 2021.

“His release clause is worth more than €40m for foreign teams. Several European clubs as important as the Nerazzurri are monitoring Gabriel.

“His promising performances in a short career have put him on the radar of several European teams.

“Braga in Portugal and Roma of Italy have shown interest in his development.”
