“They haven’t won a trophy for long time, now it’s time to win again.

“[Romelu] Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez form a phenomenal attacking partnership,” the ex-striker continued.

“I don’t know Lukaku personally, but his impact with Italian football has been impressive. He does everything well, he scores, he creates spaces and helps his teammates. Lautaro and he work for each other and this makes the difference.

“I had no doubt about Lautaro, he only needed time to settle in, it happens wit South American footballers who move to Europe.”

Is Cruz surprised by Conte?

“No, why should I be? I remember him as an opponent, and it was clear he has that leadership one needs to become a coach.

“He has always left his mark as coach, but I must say I like [Andrea] Pirlo too, he has brought his ideas and now we can see some results.”
