According to reports in Italy, Marcelo Brozovic won’t be involved in the World Cup third-place play-off on Saturday because of a minor muscle injury.

The Inter midfielder was subbed off in the second half of the semi-final against Argentina earlier this week with Croatia’s boss Zlatko Dalić claiming the 30-year-old had felt muscle pain.

Inter hoped Croatia would not risk their midfield star for the third-place game against Morocco on Saturday and according to Gazzetta and Calciomercato.com, Dalic has matched the Nerazzurri’s desire.

Exams undergone by the Croatia international on Thursday did not highlight a muscle lesion, but Dalic won’t take any risk and will rest Brozovic against Morocco. The 30-year-old won’t leave Qatar and will sit on the bench in the last game of the tournament for his national team.

According to reports, he’s been in touch with Inter’s medical staff, reassuring the club of his good condition.

Inter resume their Serie A campaign on January 4, 2023, with a key home clash against leaders Napoli and Simone Inzaghi hopes to have Brozovic available against the Partenopei.
