The legal battle between Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus continues to draw on, with a new hearing set for March 2025.
According to La Repubblica, the first hearing of Juve’s appeal at the Work Tribunal has been scheduled for March, with a judge deciding whether to go ahead.
In April 2024, the Collegio Arbitrale court ruled that Juventus had to pay circa €9.8m to Ronaldo in unpaid wages from his time at the club.
Why Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo are at loggerheads
The whole issue stemmed from the so-called Salary Manoeuvre, which was put in place by the Bianconeri during the height of the Covid pandemic in 2020.
The players had agreed publicly to give up two months of wages to help the club get through the period when there was no football being played.
An investigation in November 2022 disputed this version of events, noting that many of them were instead still going to be paid the salary in different ways.
When Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus in August 2021, the deadline day move to Manchester United was rushed through, leading to an argument over whether he had signed away the rights to that money or not.
As part of the wider investigation into their finances, Juventus were docked 15 Serie A points, then reduced to 10 on appeal along with a plea bargain.
