Mimmo Criscito’s agent has hit out at Cesare Prandelli for what he calls an ‘incomprehensible’ decision to omit him from his World Cup squad.

The full-back was one notable name absent from the CT’s provisional 30-man Italy squad and has already admitted to his disappointment at the exclusion.

On from this, his representative has today hit out at Prandelli and questioned the reasoning behind his decision.

“Criscito remains very down because, to him and to most people, the choices do not seem to correspond to the objective principles of meritocracy, experience, physical fitness, seasonal results, and moral and technical qualities,” Andrea D’Amico has told Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.

“The CT of a national team as important as Italy must [take these points into account].

“[Criscito has been] a regular over a long period both in Italy and abroad, with two seasons in the Champions League and one in the Europa League and in the running for his second win in the Russian League with Zenit, and with the ability to play three roles within tactical schemes

“Beyond his specific case, it is incomprehensible and unjustifiable to select players without international experience and who have been used this season by their clubs as reserves.”
