Mattia Destro avoided serious injuries, but Genoa captain Domenico Criscito will be out for some time with a badly sprained ankle.

Hitman Destro pulled out during the warm-up of their 3-3 Serie A draw against Hellas Verona at the weekend.

It seems he stopped in time to avoid anything more serious, as a statement announced he has been diagnosed with only a slight muscular twinge and not a lesion.

There is worse news for defender Criscito, who sprained his left ankle and suffered ligament damage too.

It’s reported by Sky Sport Italia that he could be out of action for at least a month.

Fellow defenders Mattia Bani and Zinho Vanheusden are also dealing with some injury issues.

Bani has a bruised femoral bicep and Vanheusden has a knee tendon inflammation.
