Hernan Crespo

Hernan Crespo is back on the market as a coach after leaving Brazilian club Sao Paulo by mutual consent.

The club released a statement this evening confirming they had decided to terminate their agreement.

He was under contract until December 2022, but had only taken the job in February 2021.

The former Argentina international oversaw 24 victories, 21 draws and 12 defeats, but the last five games were all stalemates.

He had just one victory in the last 10 competitive matches.

Crespo is often linked with a job as a coach in Serie A, having worked at the Parma youth academy after his retirement in 2014-15 and then with Serie B side Modena in 2015-16.

He has since worked at Banfield, Defensa and Sao Paulo.

Crespo spent most of his playing career in Italy with Parma, Lazio, Inter, Milan and Genoa.

There was also a brief one-season role as Vice-President of Parma in 2017-18 following the club’s rebirth from bankruptcy.
