Former Milan forward Hernan Crespo has claimed Carlo Ancelotti played the ‘elegant’ football former President Silvio Berlusconi ‘wanted’.
Crespo, who started and ended his career in Serie A with Parma, picked up trophies playing for Lazio, Inter and Milan during his time in Italy.
He was part of the Milan squad who played in the Champions League Final under Ancelotti in 2004-05, eventually losing to Liverpool after squandering a 3-0 lead he helped build with a brace before half time in Istanbul.

But he recalls how the current Everton tactician constructed a ‘beautiful and elegant’ side to please the big boss at San Siro.
“The coach and the club were in total harmony,” told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Carletto made the team play exactly how the President wanted.
“The beautiful and elegant touch was what the President wished for and he invented [Andrea] Pirlo’s role in front of the defence.
“They wanted midfielders and he designed the Christmas tree.”
