It’s the battle of the bottom two and there’s little to split the two teams in these Cremonese vs. Sampdoria predictions. A win for either side would propel them out of the relegation zone, but securing all three points has not been easy for either side this season.

Cremonese vs. Sampdoria odds

1 – A draw at full-time – 5/2

2 – 0-0 at full-time – 10/1

3 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 10/11

4 – Only one team to score – 6/5

5 – Sampdoria to win by one goal – 18/5

The only two teams in Serie A yet to register a win face off on Sunday, as Cremonese host Sampdoria. With the duo currently propping up the Italian top flight, this weekend is a crucial relegation six-pointer.

Cremonese’s poor position in the standings is made all the more surprising by the fact that Massimiliano Alvini’s side have lost just two of their last six games. The Grigiorossi’s apparent inability to turn draws into wins, whether by sacrificing wins or requiring late comebacks, has resulted in the second highest draw count in the league.

For Sampdoria, the challenge facing new manager Dejan Stankovic is less conceding goals, but scoring them. The Blucerchiati have scored just five goals this season with ten games played, three fewer than any other side in Serie A. Monday’s defeat to an uninspired Roma was a perfect example of this, with Samp registering just one shot on target despite dominating 60% of the possession.

Unfortunately for the neutral, this points towards a match that is unlikely to set the world alight at the Stadio Giovanni Zini. A draw is our tip for Sunday’s match, allowing both teams to keep pace with the bottom five.

It would come as no surprise for the match to finish 0-0 – and with the visitors averaging 0.5 goals per game and the hosts 0.9, a punt on under 2.5 goals scored would certainly be a safe bet.

Of course, with three points being so fundamental to both teams’ chances of survival, the two managers may encourage their sides to be more expansive on Sunday. Sampdoria have a marginally better goalscoring record away from home, with goals in three out of their four matches.

Another advantage for the visitors is they do have top-class, experienced forwards in the squad with both Francesco Caputo and Fabio Quagliarella available. Both may be past their prime but should Stankovic figure out how to provide them with service, perhaps just one goal will be needed for Sampdoria to secure their first win of the season.

Cremonese team news

Massimiliano Alvini will be keen not to make too many changes to his starting XI, although he awaits a fitness test for centre back Luka Lochoshvili. With Vlad Chiriches already sidelined and Jack Hendry unlikely to feature, the head coach is short on available defenders ahead of Sunday’s game.

Sampdoria team news

Jeison Murillo remains a key absence for Dejan Stankovic, with Alex Ferrari struggling against Roma on Monday night. Tommaso Augello also put in a poor performance in the week and is expected to be dropped in favour of Nicola Murru.
