The Argentina international was expected to leave Sampdoria in the summer and had been paired with a move to Old Trafford.
For the goalkeeper, though, such speculation that a move broke down on account of him was wide of the mark.

The Argentina international was expected to leave Sampdoria in the summer and had been paired with a move to Old Trafford.
For the goalkeeper, though, such speculation that a move broke down on account of him was wide of the mark.
“Many lies were told about me, such as I refused to move to Manchester United,” began Romero to Radio Nacional this week.
“For me, something like that would be crazy.”
Having failed to find a club, the 27-year-old remains at Marassi, as back-up to Junior da Costa and Emiliano Viviano.
“I cannot stay on the bench too long. The same thing happened to me in France – I arrive at a club at the end of the transfer window and have to wait for an opportunity as a starter.
“I am happy at Sampdoria, however, and will continue to prove to the Coach that I can play and that I do not want to stay on the bench.”
