COVID-19 numbers remain stable

There were 382 deaths related to coronavirus in Italy over the last 24 hours, but 93 left intensive care and another 2,317 were given the all-clear.

The numbers continue to either remain steady or fall, as the country is moving into Phase Two of the pandemic response from May 4.

Another 382 people died since yesterday, so a slight increase from 333 on Monday, but the other statistics are all continuing a downward curve.

Italy now has 1,863 patients in intensive care, -93 from yesterday, with a total of 19,723 in hospital (-630).

The vast majority of those positive for COVID-19 are self-isolating at home with minor symptoms: 83,619.

Since the start of the crisis, 27,359 people have died in Italy after contracting the virus, but 68,941 have made a full recovery and been given the all-clear.

There are currently 102,205 people in the country who are positive for coronavirus, out of 201,505 who tested positive overall.

Lombardy remains the epicentre, as there are 35,744 people currently suffering from the illness in that region, compared to 15,506 in Piedmont.
