La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Philippe Coutinho could actually end up at Lazio, as Barcelona are ready to pay half of the Brazilian’s wages.

The newspaper points at the former Inter forward as a realistic transfer target for Maurizio Sarri’s team this summer, should Joaquin Correa depart.

Claudio Lotito is asking for €40m for the Argentine, with Inter reportedly ready to offer €30m for his services.

Barcelona are looking to get rid of the former Liverpool and Bayern Munich player’s wages and are hoping to cut their costs ahead of the new campaign.

The report continues to claim the Blaugrana have offered to pay half of Coutinho’s wages in an attempt to successfully complete his loan deal to the Biancocelesti, who are now considering the idea.

Coutinho offered to Lazio, but deal improbable

The operation remains complicated, but the availability of Barcelona could give Lazio a realistic opportunity to sign the Brazilian.

Coutinho, who was signed by Inter from Vasco da Gama in July 2008, had his real breakthrough at Liverpool.

He spent five seasons at Anfield before joining Barcelona in a deal worth €135m. But the 29-year-old has struggled to convince at Camp Nou and spent 2019-20 on loan at Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga.

His contract with Barcelona expires in June 2023 and the La Liga giants are hoping to cut his salary in half by sending him on loan at the Olimpico.
