Thibaut Courtois’ sister Valerie apologised to Leonardo Spinazzola after accusing him of time-wasting through the official Instagram account of the Real Madrid goalkeeper.
Spinazzola was stretched off in tears during the UEFA Euro 2020 quarter-finals tie between Italy and Belgium on Friday.
Courtois’ sister Valerie was at the Allianz Arena watching the game and reacted to Spinazzola’s injury live using the Instagram account of his brother.
She took a video of Spinazzola receiving medical treatment from Italy’s medical staff writing in Belgian: ‘That’s what we call tricks of the trade.’
It later emerged the Italian defender had ruptured his Achilles tendon, so the 30-year-old, a professional Volley player for Stade Français, apologised through her Instagram account.
“So sorry to find out Spinazzola’s Ec finishes like this. I apologize for my reaction in the moment and I absolutely hope he has a good recovery.”
Spinazzola has left Coverciano and will under surgery in Finland today. He is expected to remain out of action for six months.
Before his injury, Spinazzola had been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur with his agent Davide Lippi, who reportedly met the Merengues’ representatives to discuss a potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
