With Milan having limited attacking options, Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be decisive in tonight’s match against Napoli. Will the Partenopei’s failure to sign him last year come back to bite them?
The 40-year-old Swedish forward has scored seven goals in 10 Serie A appearances this campaign and he could be the difference maker in this evening’s tough match against Luciano Spalletti’s side, especially considering Stefano Pioli has limited options up front due to an injury crisis.
Before Ibrahimovic signed for the Rossoneri in January 2020, he had reached an agreement with Napoli and was only a step away from joining the Partenopei, before president Aurelio De Laurentiis dismissed coach Carlo Ancelotti on December 10th 2019.
Following this decision, Ibrahimovic re-considered his options and eventually decided to re-join Milan, where he became a core part of Pioli’s squad.
The 40-year-old Swede has the chance to make Napoli regret their failure to secure his signature this evening in a match that could prove decisive in the title race, as both teams are currently trailing Simone Inzaghi’s Inter by a handful of points.
