Horrific details are emerging in reports about Diego Armando Maradona’s physical condition and care in the days before his death, as there is an investigation into his doctors for manslaughter.
The Napoli and Argentina icon died last week at the age of 60, just weeks after leaving hospital following surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain.
According to La Repubblica newspaper, Maradona was in such poor physical condition that he really should’ve been an intensive care ward and not simply allowed to go home, even with medical staff observing him.

According to La Repubblica newspaper, Maradona was in such poor physical condition that he really should’ve been an intensive care ward and not simply allowed to go home, even with medical staff observing him.
Observing is also the most important word here, as it seems the nurses assigned to Maradona did precious little to help look after the football legend.
Reports in Argentina, covered in La Repubblica, claim there wasn’t even a working toilet in Maradona’s home, so he had to use a chemical toilet.
It’s reported his heart was only working at 38 per cent capacity, had become enlarged to twice its normal side, and the hypertension was so bad that it could not be controlled by simple medication.
The WhatsApp conversations between Maradona’s daughters, Dalma and Giannina, and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov were taken in as evidence and saw them allegedly discuss the need for a new doctor more committed to helping Diego than Leopoldo Luque.
After decades of abusing his body with drugs and alcohol, Maradona had withdrawal symptoms as well as depression, diagnosed by Cosachov.
Maradona’s ex-wife, Claudia Villafane, was also quoted in the report as saying: “If you had seen where Diego died, you would’ve died too.”
