According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter could sell Lautaro Martinez in order to raise funds, with €80m considered an acceptable offer.

The striker has a release clause worth €111m in his contract, valid only for two weeks during the summer for clubs outside of Italy.

Barcelona had pushed hard to sign him last season, but refused to pay the full sum.

Now the situation has changed with over a year of the pandemic decimating revenue streams.

Now the situation has changed with over a year of the pandemic decimating revenue streams.

It was reported today that the Inter players and staff have refused President Steven Zhang’s appeal to accept a pay cut for next season, giving up two months of their salary.

In that case, player sales are more likely and Lautaro Martinez is the man with the biggest draw on the transfer market, as well as the possibility for profit.

Inter paid €25m to sign him from Racing Club in July 2018 and he is under contract until June 2023, with negotiations for a new deal suddenly stalling in the light of Suning’s cashflow issues.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that in order to make a tidy enough profit, the sale would have to be for at least €80m.

The problem is that Barcelona and Real Madrid are in a not dissimilar situation to Inter, while Manchester City are seemingly more interested in Romelu Lukaku than his Argentinean teammate.
