According to Sky Sport Italia, Antonio Conte could be convinced to take the Tottenham Hotspur job if the club promises big investments in the January transfer market, with Manchester United also in the running.

Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà reported late Saturday night that Tottenham had been in contact with Conte to discuss replacing Nuno Espirito Santo after the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United.

They had already been in talks with Conte over the summer, before hiring Nuno, but could not agree terms or the project in place.

Now some months later, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has seemingly changed his mind and is prepared to make the necessary investments from January.

According to Sky Sport Italia pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, the promise may well be enough to convince Conte that this is a job worth accepting.

There would have to be a multi-season contract and guarantees on investment for a genuine project.

The former Inter boss usually shuns mid-season roles, but had already accepted the idea of taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United this week.

The Old Trafford giants decided to give Solskjaer another three games to save his job, keeping Conte on standby, but Tottenham have now dived in with a proposal of their own.

Conte already worked with Tottenham director Fabio Paratici at Juventus.

Pedulla’ maintains Paratici is pushing hard and hopes to have a deal done by Tuesday, before Manchester United’s Champions League clash with Atalanta.

6 thought on “Could Conte accept Tottenham this time?”
  1. He could make a beast out of Tottenham in a couple of years if Kane stays beyond the summer. Kane and Son are his kind of strikers, but he needs midfielders and defenders as Tottenham are seriously short on quality in those positions.

  2. Can’t imagine him lasting more than a fortnight with that Spurs owner lol. Both are control freaks, and they throws their toys out of the pram when they don’t get their own way.
They have Kane (who doesn’t want to be there) and Son, but most of the squad is average.

  3. Going to Tittenham Coldspuds is a bridge too far for Conte. The second losers of north London is a big step down for someone of his cailbre. Wait for Guardiola to leave City as he said he is going. The oil barons can then give him £2 billion a year guaranteed every summer.

  4. he want complete control of his squad and transfer management. MU more suited to his management style than spurs. lewy can be stubborn and hard to convince while MU has english style manager who do the coach and transfer management.

  5. Thing is, I seriously doubt the United environment accepts his style of play, at least in the long run, but Spurs might.

  6. MU environment would be much more suited for Conte. With full control over the squad and transfer, Conte could be the next Fergie. Remember that Fergie also had full control over the squad and transfer.
