FIGC sub-commissioner Alessandro Costacurta says Maurizio Sarri or Massimiliano Allegri as Italy CT “wouldn’t be bad”.

The former Milan defender has been put in charge of the selection process for the next CT, following Giampiero Ventura’s sacking.

Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti, Claudio Ranieri and Roberto Mancini are the favourites, but Costacurta was asked about the Napoli and Juventus Coaches as he attended an event in Rome today.

“They wouldn’t be bad, damn!” the former centre-back laughed.

“I think that Italian Coaches are the best in the world and there is a wide range of people who could fit our ideal profile to lead the national team.

“They’re under contract though. In two months the situation could be different, but as of now there’s nothing new.

“If anything happens you’ll know about it and we can intervene, but right now even conducting interviews would be difficult for me, for the Federation and especially for those who are under contract.”
