Milan defender Matteo Gabbia and Rossoneri legend Alessandro Costacurta argued live on TV during a post-match interview last night.

It happened after Milan’s 4-2 loss to Monza on Sunday. Costacurta criticised Gabbia’s teammate Malick Thiaw, saying that the German centre-back had made ‘serious’ errors at the U-Power Stadium.

“You are not being fair by saying that just one player made errors,” argued Gabbia, causing Costacurta’s reply: “You are not being fair because you are his teammate. You must not say I am unfair because I have to analyse what happened and I don’t have to defend teammates like you do.”

As reported by Gazzetta, Gabbia tried to explain what he meant to say and his post-match interview continued with no further arguments.

The Italian defender came back from a loan spell at Villarreal in the January transfer window and has scored one goal in seven Serie A appearances since his return to the Stadio Meazza.

His contract with the Serie A giants runs out in June 2026.

Milan legend Costacurta spent his entire career with the Diavoli except for one season when he played on loan at Monza in Serie C1 in 1986-87.

The former Italian centre-back played 663 games with the Rossoneri, winning seven Serie A titles and five Champions League, among other trophies.
