Serse Cosmi believes Lecce’s win over Siena last weekend could be decisive in the club’s attempts to avoid relegation this season.

The Salentini’s 4-1 win over their fellow relegation candidates in Week 24 closed the gap between the two sides to two points, albeit with 17th place Siena having a game in hand over 18th place Lecce.

Cosmi, however, believes that the result at the weekend could be the turning point to the southern club’s campaign.

“Sunday we were at a crossroads,” the cap-wearing Coach told Il Corriere dello Sport.

“While on other occasions we have tried to pretend like nothing has happened, this time we could not lie. The game with Siena was a decisive game.

“A small psychological brake that manifested itself in the first half aside, the team showed great desire to win.

“This success has not solved our problems, but has created the potential to do something concrete.

“We have established the foundation to build something important and compete until the end. Here, today I feel we can do it.”

The tactician, a self-proclaimed Lecce fan, went on to suggest that the likes of on loan Udinese” data-scaytid=”12″>Udinese pair Luis Muriel and Juan Cuadrado will be crucial to the club’s bid for survival. Both scored against Siena.
