But the coach insisted his men will ‘honour’ Serie A until the last game of the season, starting with Udinese tomorrow.
“Udinese will not be more motivated than my lads,” Cosmi said at a press conference. “Our motivations are like the ones of our opponents.
“We will try to honour this championship until the very end, given that securing safety is very complicated.
“I don’t want to think that our team faces the eight games without motivation, or partial motivation. We owe it as a duty in respect of the city and the club.”
He confirmed only Marrone and Benali are absent ahead of the game.
“Marrone and Benali are the only two absences,” he continued. “Then today we moved the final session to the afternoon, I think Di Carmine is available tomorrow.
“Cigarini has been back in training for two or three weeks, but his conditions has improved. We hope to use him as soon as possible, that’s the idea.”
Cosmi admitted Crotone are ‘disappointed’ about their season, but said he was ‘proud’ of his time with the club and would have made the same choice again.
“There’s disappointment in everyone, it’s clear, but in the presence of the matches that one plays, frustration is also added to the disappointment,” he said.
“We don’t feel inferior to the teams we have faced, for how the results come out. I’m proud to have met these people, and to have shared these six matches with the team. The results make everything complicated.
“If I had to go back, after having known this city, I would make the choice again a thousand times."
