The Serie B side Trapani Coach had the 24-year-old at Lecce, and was able to comment on the player's career for La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“That year at Lecce, Bertolacci was often injured,” he said.
“But his skills were obvious. I followed him at Genoa and I wasn't surprised to see him playing further back in the field: he has great technical and tactical abilities.

“At Milan he still has to find his feet, but he can do well in the mezzala role that [Coach Sinisa] Mihajlovic is asking of him.
“He has the stamina and the sense of timing of a deep-lying playmaker, but he can pass like a trequartista.
“He can play further ahead too, but that's not his ideal position.”
