Cosmi and Papa ‘ready for Palermo’

Both Serse Cosmi and Giuseppe Papadopulo have declared they are “ready” to take over should Palermo make the call.

President Maurizio Zamparini said current boss Delio Rossi has “a one per cent chance of staying on the bench” after today's 7-0 home defeat to Udinese.

A new tactician is expected to be announced on Monday morning and two candidates aren't shying away from the spotlight.

“I absolutely am ready, but I will not add anything more,” Cosmi told TuttoMercatoWeb.

A new tactician is expected to be announced on Monday morning and two candidates aren't shying away from the spotlight.

“I absolutely am ready, but I will not add anything more,” Cosmi told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“It is only right for the club involved to say the rest. I prefer not to add anything else at this moment in time.”

The former Perugia, Genoa, Udinese, Brescia and Livorno Coach would be an interesting combination with equally fiery patron Zamparini.

Another option is ex-Lazio tactician Papadopulo, who already has experience on the Palermo bench.

“There has been some contact, but let's say nothing too in-depth as yet,” revealed Papadopulo on ilsussidiario.net.

“I don't want to wish my colleagues ill, but I must admit I really want to get back to work. I've been doing this job for 25 years and I don't like to be out of the loop.

“I'd say yes if President Zamparini called. I have always had a good rapport with him and with the Palermo fans.

“I left despite having a contract because the club had made other choices. It would be a shame if Rossi were to be fired, as it's not right to give all the blame to the Coach, but I would give a positive response if Zamparini were to call.”

‘Papa' was on the Rosanero bench in 2005-06, taking over mid-season from Gigi Del Neri, then moved on to spells with Lecce and Bologna.
