Serie B side Cosenza have signed former Newcastle United and Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere on a free transfer.

Riviere joins Cosenza on a contract until the end of the season, having been without a club since leaving French club Metz over the summer.

The 29-year-old scored 17 goals in 50 games for Monaco between 2012 and 2014, helping them finish second in Ligue 1 under Claudio Ranieri.

He then joined Newcastle but scored just one Premier League goal for the Magpies and later played for Osasuna in La Liga before returning to France with Metz.
