Lecce director Pantaleo Corvino, who helped bring Dusan Vlahovic to Fiorentina, advised the Serbian striker to stay with Juventus, even if they miss out on the Champions League.
Recent rumours have suggested that the 23-year-old forward could leave Turin in the summer in a high-profile sale, especially if the club miss out on European competition.
Vlahovic has struggled to truly show his best with Juventus since his arrival 13 months ago, scoring 18 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions, with Massimiliano Allegri’s system often leaving him isolated.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Corvino first discussed the criticisms aimed at Vlahovic in recent months.
“Are you kidding me? Dusan is not up for discussion. For Vlahovic, in addition to his big numbers, his talent speaks for itself. He’s a complete centre forward, he has physique, a sense for goal, good technique, progression and aerial skills.
“And then he is still young. I advise him to stay in Turin, even without the Champions League. Juve are always Juve, a point of arrival. And after a storm, the calm always arrives.”
The Lecce director then spoke highly about Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto.
“Apart from Mou, I think of Tiago Pinto. A director is judged by what he finds when he arrives and what he leaves behind when he says goodbye. As well as by results.
“I like Tiago Pinto for the way he worked on the market, despite financial fair play, which he inherited, last year Roma won the Conference League and this season they are fighting for second place. I appreciated the management of the Dybala signing and the management of Zaniolo out.”
Contracted to Juventus until June 2026, the 23-year-old Vlahovic has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 12 Serie A appearances this season, doing well despite a frustrating muscle injury.
Premier League sides, including Chelsea and Arsenal, are interested in picking up the Serbian striker should Juventus miss out on the Champions League this season.
