Former Fiorentina director of sport Pantaleo Corvino claims the Della Valle brothers sold the club as “an act of love” and Rocco Commisso can make back his investment with three players.
The brothers saved the Viola from extinction in 2002 following the Vittorio Cecchi Gori era and bankruptcy, but eventually sold the club to Commisso last summer after growing disillusioned with the fans.
“The Della Vale brothers sold to Commisso as an act of love towards the city and to Fiorentina, knowing that they were leaving the club in the hands of a capable person and in the conditions to give a great future to the team.
“Commisso has brought great enthusiasm. Knowing the city, this enthusiasm will give everyone energy," Corvino told Tuttosport.
“I expect that he will do great things. He’s already demonstrated intelligence and skill in buying the club.
“With the youth sector winning five national titles and the women’s team winning a Scudetto, the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup, Commisso was able to buy an interesting club.
“It’s also enough to think that with what Nikola Milenkovic, Gaetano Castrovilli and Federico Chiesa are worth, he’s already equalled his investment.”
Corvino was then asked about Chiesa, who has been constantly linked with moves to Juventus or Inter.
“For me he is one of the greatest players in our league and in the future will be part of a great team.”
