According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma owner Dan Friedkin is ‘ready’ to sack José Mourinho and hire Hans-Dieter Flick if the Giallorossi lose against Cagliari on Sunday.

The Rome-based paper exclusively reports the Giallorossi President is ready to sack Mourinho if the Giallorossi lose at the Sardegna Arena tomorrow.

The report claims Friedkin had already decided to part company with Mourinho after a 4-1 loss against Genoa on September 28, but director Tiago Pinto persuaded the President to change his mind and stick to Mou.

Corriere dello Sport adds that Friedkin has already contacted and blocked Mourinho’s replacement, former Germany and Bayern Munich boss Flick.

Roma have won two games from two in Europa League, but have had a bad start to the season in Serie A with just two wins in the opening seven league games.

Mourinho has less than a year left in his contract at the Stadio Olimpico, expiring in June 2024.

UPDATE:

Roma sources quoted by ANSA call the report ‘fake’ saying the club has not thought about sacking Mourinho or ever contacted Flick.
