Lorenzo Insigne has agreed personal terms with MLS side Toronto and he’s ready to put pen to paper.

The 30-year-old Italian forward will not renew his contract with Napoli following a breakdown in talks between him and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis and now he’s preparing to sign a five-year deal with the Canadian club.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Insigne has agreed to sign a five-year contract with Toronto worth €15.5m gross per season including add-ons, which works out to €7.75m net per season including add-ons and other benefits, like a house, car and flights. SportMediaset reported this a few days ago and now further confirmation has arrived.

De Laurentiis offered the 30-year-old Italian forward a four-year contract worth €3.5m net per season plus €1m in difficult to achieve add-ons, lower than what he currently earns. The player, for his part, was prepared to renew his contract on the basis of €5m net per season, the same as he currently earns, but the Napoli president refused to match this.

The MLS season starts in March and so Insigne is set to pen to paper soon, prepared to start his new life in Canada.
